Hoa Lu & Tam Coc: A Day Trip to “Halong Bay on Land”

Your day begins with a convenient pickup directly from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The scenic drive south to Ninh Binh province is an experience in itself, offering views of Vietnam’s lush countryside. After a short break to stretch your legs, we'll arrive at our first destination: Hoa Lu Ancient Capital.

From the 10th to the 11th century, this was the political and cultural heart of Vietnam. Here, you'll walk through the temples dedicated to the Dinh and Le dynasties, gaining a deep understanding of the country's feudal history. The quiet, ancient feel of the site offers a powerful connection to the past.

After our historical walk, we'll hop on bicycles for a relaxing ride around the surrounding village. Pedaling along peaceful paths, you’ll get a close-up look at local life and the stunning natural beauty that defines the region.

By noon, it’s time to refuel with a delicious buffet lunch at a local restaurant. The meal is designed with a "5-star style," providing a wide array of local specialties. You'll have the chance to try Ninh Binh’s famous goat meat, fresh spring rolls, and other authentic Vietnamese dishes. Vegetarian options are always available, ensuring there's something for everyone.

The highlight of the day awaits at Tam Coc. You’ll board a small, traditional bamboo boat and set off on a peaceful 1.5-hour journey down the Ngo Dong River. A local rower will expertly navigate the boat through a breathtaking landscape of towering limestone karsts, serene green rice paddies, and three stunning caves. The entire scene is so magnificent, it's easy to see why it earned the nickname "Halong Bay on Land."

As the afternoon winds down, we’ll board our comfortable limousine bus for the return trip to Hanoi, dropping you off at your hotel with a camera full of photos and a head full of incredible memories.
